Acupressure Points for Tinnitus
Acupressure can reduce tinnitus symptoms by applying pressure to specific points on the body. The following are the commonly used acupressure points for tinnitus that you can do on your own. Some of the pressure points are hard to press with your fingers, you can use acupressure probe. Once you learn this simple self-care technique, you can use it anywhere and anytime.
Tinggong (SI19)
Tinggong, also known as Palace of Hearing, can be used to relieve excessive ear pain, irregular ear discharge and tinnitus. It is located in the hollow directly in front of the ear. Press it lightly with your forefinger and applying pressure using small circular motions for 1 to 2 minutes with your mouth open.
Ermen (TE21)
Ermen is an acupressure point which can be used to reduce discharge of pus from the ear, earache and tinnitus ringing and buzzing. It is located directly above the Tinggong point. Press it lightly with your forefinger and applying pressure using small circular motions for 1 to 2 minutes with your mouth open.
Tinghui (GB2)
Tinghui, also known as Meeting of Hearing, can be used to relieve excessive itching in the ear and tinnitus. It is located directly below the Tinggong point. Press it lightly with your forefinger and applying pressure using small circular motions for 1 to 2 minutes with your mouth open.
Yifeng (TE17)
Yifeng is an acupressure point which can be used to relieve tinnitus, itching and pain in the ear. It is located just behind the ear lobe. Use your thumb or forefinger and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with finger.
Fengchi (GB20)
Fengchi, also known as Wind Pool, can help reduce tinnitus ringing and buzzing. It is located behind your earlobe, toward the top of your neck and the base of your skull. Use your thumb or forefinger and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with finger.
Hegu (LI4)
Hegu, also known as Union Valley, can be used to relieve headaches and stress due to tinnitus. It is located on the highest spot of the muscle when the thumb and forefinger are brought close together. Use your thumb and apply pressure or you can do circular motion with thumb. This procedure should have been repeated for the other hand.
